Remove volumes from storage groups

Storage groups are a collection of devices that are stored on the array, and an application, a server, or a collection of servers use them.

About this task

This procedure explains how to remove volumes from storage groups. The SRDF/Metro Smart DR environment must be in a valid state.

To remove volumes from storage groups:

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select Storage > Storage Groups.
  3. Select the storage group.
    The SG All Details window is displayed.
  4. Select the Volumes tab .
  5. Select one or more volumes and click Remove Volumes to open the Remove Volume dialog box.
    NOTE: Removing a volume that has an SRDF relationship from the storage group could render the SRDF unmanageable.
  6. To unbind the volumes, select Unbind or Unmap, depending on the storage operating environment.
  7. Do one of the following:
    • Click Run Now to perform the operation now.
    • Expand Run Now and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
  8. In a SRDF/Metro Smart DR environment. The Remove Remote Volumes window is displayed.
    The storage group must be selected on both arrays.
  9. Click OK.
